This policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit frenchwithjo.com, submit a Discovery request, book or pay for lessons, or communicate with Learn French with Jo.

2. Personal data collected

2.1 Discovery form

The Discovery form may collect:

first name;
email address;
country and/or time zone;
current French level;
learning goals and information you choose to include in your message;
technical submission information such as the date and source of the request.

2.2 Booking, payment and lessons

When you continue to booking or payment, additional information may be processed by the relevant service provider, including appointment details, payment status and billing information. Learn French with Jo does not need to receive or store your full payment-card details.

2.3 Students under 18

Lessons may be available to teenagers. A parent or legal guardian should handle or supervise booking and payment for a minor. Please do not submit unnecessary sensitive information about a minor through the website.

3. Why the data is used and legal bases

4. Required and optional information

Fields marked as required are necessary to process your Discovery request. If they are not provided, the request cannot be submitted. Other information is optional and should be limited to what is useful for your learning request.

5. Recipients and service providers

Depending on the features actually used, personal data may be processed through providers such as:

Cloudflare — website hosting, network and security;
n8n — automation of the Discovery lead workflow;
Google Workspace — email, calendar, video meetings and/or business records;
Calendly — appointment scheduling;
Stripe — online payment processing.

Personal data is not sold to third parties.

6. Retention periods

Discovery prospects: generally up to 3 years after the last meaningful contact, unless a shorter period is appropriate or deletion is requested where applicable.
Customer and lesson records: for the duration of the customer relationship and then for the period reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal rights.
Invoices and accounting records: for the retention period required by applicable French law.
Security data: only for a period proportionate to the security purpose concerned.

7. International data transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, transfers are handled using a mechanism recognized under the GDPR where required, such as an adequacy decision, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another appropriate safeguard.
