These Terms apply to online French lessons sold by Learn French with Jo to individual customers. Please read them before purchasing a Discovery Session, individual lesson or lesson pack.

The exact content, price and duration shown on the website or payment page at the time of purchase form part of the contract.
Prices are displayed in euros. Where the French VAT exemption regime for small businesses applies, invoices will state that VAT is not applicable under Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.
Payment may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider displayed during checkout. A booking or lesson pack is confirmed once the required payment has been successfully completed.
The Discovery Session is intended to discuss your goals, assess your starting point, try a short activity and recommend an appropriate next step. It is not a guarantee of any specific level assessment, examination result or future learning outcome.
Lessons are normally delivered online, for example through Google Meet. The student is responsible for having a suitable internet connection, compatible device, microphone and, where appropriate, camera.
Appointment times are shown in the booking system and may be displayed according to the student's time zone. Students should verify the selected date, time and time zone before confirming a booking.
Unless a different rule is clearly displayed at the time of booking, a booked lesson may be rescheduled or cancelled without lesson charge when at least 24 hours' notice is given.
With less than 24 hours' notice, or in the event of a no-show, the lesson may be treated as used and may not be refunded, except where mandatory consumer law requires otherwise or where exceptional circumstances are accepted by the teacher.
If Learn French with Jo has to cancel a lesson, the student will be offered a replacement session or, where appropriate, a refund for the affected lesson.
If the student arrives late, the lesson normally ends at the originally scheduled time. A significant delay may therefore reduce the effective lesson duration.
Lesson packs contain the number and duration of lessons stated at purchase. Any validity period or special booking condition will be displayed before purchase or agreed with the customer. A pack may not be transferred or resold to another person without prior agreement.
Consumers purchasing a service online generally have a statutory right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days from the date the service contract is concluded, subject to the exceptions and conditions provided by law.
If you ask for a paid service to begin before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period, Learn French with Jo may request your express instruction to begin early. If you subsequently withdraw before the service has been fully performed, you may be required to pay for the part already provided, where permitted by law.
Where a service has been fully performed before the withdrawal period expires, the statutory right of withdrawal may be lost only where the legal conditions are met, including the required prior request and acknowledgement from the consumer.
Before launch, the booking/payment flow should include the legally required withdrawal information and, when a lesson is scheduled within 14 days, the appropriate express request/acknowledgement.
Lessons are educational services. Progress varies between learners and depends on factors such as attendance, independent practice, starting level and learning needs. No guaranteed CEFR level, academic result, examination score, visa outcome, admission decision or employment result is promised.
Students should behave respectfully during lessons and must not record, reproduce or redistribute lesson content without prior permission, except where permitted by law.
Where the student is under 18, booking and payment should be made or supervised by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian is responsible for providing accurate booking information and for ensuring appropriate supervision in light of the student's age and circumstances.
Original lesson materials, exercises, documents and teaching resources supplied by Learn French with Jo remain protected by intellectual property law. They are provided for the student's personal learning use and may not be commercially reproduced, published, shared or resold without permission.
Lessons, payments and bookings may rely on third-party services such as Google Meet, Calendly and Stripe. Temporary outages or technical problems affecting those services may require a lesson to be rescheduled.
If a serious technical issue attributable to Learn French with Jo prevents a lesson from being delivered, a replacement lesson or appropriate refund will be offered.
Any complaint should first be sent to contact@frenchwithjo.com so that an amicable solution can be sought.
French consumer law requires a professional selling services to consumers to provide access to an approved consumer mediator. The mediator actually selected by Learn French with Jo must be inserted here once the required affiliation or agreement is in place:

A consumer may refer a dispute to the designated mediator after first making a written complaint directly to Learn French with Jo and where the conditions for mediation are met.
These Terms are governed by French law. This does not deprive a consumer residing in another country of mandatory consumer protections that apply to them under applicable rules.
If an amicable solution or mediation does not resolve a dispute, the competent courts are determined under the applicable rules of jurisdiction; these Terms do not impose an exclusive French court where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
The Terms applicable to a purchase are those made available to the customer when the order is placed. Future changes do not retroactively alter a contract already concluded unless the parties agree or the law requires otherwise.
